Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu

Preview
Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu is full of cute girls, gorgeous animation and lots of laughs. While the original series had a developing story, Fumoffu seems to be sticking with the "high school comedy" aspect of that series. And I'm liking it. A lot.

The first thing that stuck out at me was how nice the animation is. It's extremely fluid and even surpases the original series in quality. Fumoffu is much more of a comedy series than it's predecessor. Sousuke, being the serious military guy that he is, is constantly acting and doing funny things that are out of the ordinary. In one scene, Sousuke is playing a shooting arcade game and when he runs out of ammo he pulls out his real gun ad begins to unload it, destroying the machine.

The episodes lengths are the usual 25 minutes, but most episodes are broken down into two seperate stories. This works out pretty well because the episodes are paced quickly and get through a lot in a short period of time. In one story, Kanami is kidnapped by a gang and Sousuke comes to rescue her. However, instead of just going in with guns blazing, he fights fire with fire. He kidnaps the leader's little brother and holds him hostage by tying him up on the ceiling with eight ropes and begins to cut the ropes one by one until Kanami is set free. The way it's all pulled off is a hilarious, as is nearly every scene.

There are also some hints at romance between Sousuke and Kanami in a few scenes and hopefully there is more of it to come. You don't have to have seen the oringal to watch this series, but chances are you will get even more out of it if you did. If you liked the original series, Fumoffu is a must have, and even if you haven't I still recommend checking it out when it gets released on May 10th.
