Review "Lien, Suong and Khan are three sisters who, together with a brother, two husbands and a child, are living and loving in the same clan they've forged since the death of their parents. But there are deep secrets that are being kept that threaten to disrupt the harmony and balance of their daily existence, making life much more tenuous and complicated than it seems on the surface." - Sony Pictures Summary
The Vertical Ray of the Sun is a painfully slow paced film that accomplishes very little by the end. But even worse, for what little does happen, save one or two characters, I really couldn't care less what happened to any of them. The cast does a fine job, but the script is horrible. There is no attempt to make an emotional connection to the characters. Thankfully the movie is blessed with nice visuals, as both the settings and cast look great. It helps make the film easier to endure, but to be honest I was bored most of the time.
Beyond its visual allure, there really isn't much to like here. There are some decent moments in regard to character interactions, but those are far and few between. Not worth your time.

Language Nothing offensive.
Violence Nothing offensive.
Sex Some topics of discussion are sexual in nature. There are also a couple of scenes with women in various states of undress (no nudity). Be aware that the movie also addresses issues of affairs and premarital sex.
