Sister Princess vol. 1

Review
Wataru fails his junior high school entrance exam because he misaligned all of his answers on his computer-scored test. Since he only applied for one school, Wataru is now behind one year from the rest of his classmates. Two weird men appear at his house and tell him that he has been accepted to another high school and were there to pick him up. They drop him off at an island were he is going to be staying.

There he finds out he has sisters he never knew he had. We're not just talking two or three sisters, but twelve of them. By the end of the second episode, all of the sisters have already been introduced. Having only one school on the island it comes as no surprise that they all go to the same school. His sisters walk him home after school, make him dinner and are constantly around him since they adore him. This causes him to attempt to leave the island, but he isn't able to bring himself to do it. Wataru's butler from his house shows up everywhere and plays many of the side characters. There is also a red haired girl who is always spying on Wataru.

With twelve sisters, there are many different personalities and many different ages, but they are all younger than Wataru. Each of them call Wataru by a different name, including "big brother," "bro-bro" and "brother mine." The animation isn't anything special and actually looks a little choppy most of the time.

It looks as if the series will have episodic stories dealing with a sister or group of sisters. For instance, in the fourth episode on this disc, Wataru helps one of his youngest sisters, Hinako, go find a teddy bear. Most of the focus for the episode is given to Wataru and Hinako, and the other sisters will probably get their own episodes later on in the series.

I must admit I did enjoy this disc. It won't amaze you, but the show has a certain appeal to it that keeps me watching. Plus, the girls are really cute.

The "behind the scenes" extra shows the actors playing their roles and they give their opinions about the show. This is a nice alternative to the commentaries that ADV occasionally provides.

There is a reverse cover with an image of Karen.
