Petite Princess Yucie vol. 5

Review
The platinum princess candidates go off on another job as maids. They find out that the master of the mansion is a stuborn man whose daughter ran away from home. A lot of the focus in this episode is on Elmina, as this man reminds her of her father. I really enjoyed this episode because Elmina is one of my favorite characters and I found it really touching as it explores her character some more.

Beth finally returns to the princess academy and all the girls go the the ball at the castle. Yucie hears a strange noise outside and finds Arc trying to secretly escape to confront Gunbard once again. Gunbard finally reveals that he really was the one to create the Eternal Tiara, a task said to be impossible. He did this so he could reach the status of nobility, which would allow him to marry princess Ercell. But by the time he had returned from his long journey, Arc's mother was already married.

Next, our five candidates must perform a concert, but they get into an argument and start avoiding each other when they should be practicing. This makes Yucie question that even though they are rivals as platinum princess candidates, would they still be able to be friends? They eventually get over their problems and sing a cute song together at the end of the episode.

The girls then head out to the spirit world in search of the final crystal flower. It's a ghost town with the people looking like ghostly figues to everyone buy Cocoloo. The girls eventually find themselves searching the buildings and Yucie and Beth end up getting trapped in a room together. Unable to find a way out, they begin talking which leads Beth to explain why she absolutely must be the one to get the Eternal Tiara. A while ago, Diabolos came and tried to wrap the fairy world in darkness, but her father sealed it away. However, it seems that her father's seal isn't enough to stop Diabolos, as this darkness is still spreading throughout the fairy world.

Seeing as I've really enjoyed the show this far, it came as no surprise that I enjoyed these episodes as much as I did many of the previous ones. There is only one volume left and I am really looking forward to seeing the conclusion to this delightful series.
