Gravion Zwei vol. 1

Review
Gravion Zwei continues the story of the first season as that one sort of ended in the middle of things. After being dormant for awhile, the Zeravire once again begin their attacks. The plot doesn't progress much as we get more stand alone episodes, but a few new characters are introduced.

The first episode starts the series off really well. Eiji loses in a game with the maids and is forces not only himself, but the rest of the Gran Knights to take over the maids duties for a day. The G-Soldier Squadron of the Earth Fighting Agency is introduced and they have their own robot to fight the Zeravire with. There are also a few hints given as to what the plans of the Zeravire are.

The hot springs episode is really fun and the highlight of this disc. Some of the girls get quite a bit of exposure and the episode is fairly fanservice heavy. However, even if all the fanservice was removed, it would still be great because there are a number of good character scenes and lots of laughs. This includes Eiji and Toga riding through the girls bath on bamboo sleds, Sandman and Leele's ping pong team, and the maids singing the Gravion transformation theme song. On a side note, the song was dubbed for the egnlish track and it sounds really good.

Then an underwater power plant is being taken over by the Zeravire so the Gran Knights go to check it out with Leele heading out first to scout the area. She gets shot down and Toga comes to her rescue by bringing her inside the underwater building, but more Zeravire are waiting for them inside. Due to the low oxygen level inside the plant, Toga loses his vision temporarily so when the others finally catch up with them Leele helps Toga pilot the Gravion.

So far, I'm enjoying Zwei more than I did the original even though at its core it's more of the same, but it's done in an appealing way that has me sucked in and laughing more. I'm having a lot of fun with the characters and the animation is more fluid looking. Fans of the first season will find a lot to enjoy here.
