Flame of Recca vol. 2

Review
Recca learns about the secrets of the hokage ninjas from his enthusiastic teacher. They were a secret ninja clan who used the power of nature in the weapons they made. This explains the powers that many of the characters have by utilizing their items.

Kurei, after making some short appearances in the first disc, begins to take on a more central role and just like Recca, he has the power of fire. Kurei's father wants to gain eternal life and he believes that Yanagi's healing powers might help him achieve it so he has his people kidnap her. Recca goes to rescue his princess and the rest of the gang goes with him.

Unfortionately, things do start to drag once they get to Kurei's mansion. The story progresses more slowly as the they try to make it through the obstacles that Kurei has waiting for them. Even after being possessed by the Fujin, which gives her the power of wind that Kagehoshi gave her to fight Recca earlier, Fuko decides to continue using it. She gets into a fight with a puppet master who uses one of the Hokage weapons, the Katakugutsu, to manipulate objects.

Some of the fight scenes just have a great look to them, mostly the ones involving Recca. He pulls off some neat moves and the view is set perfectly to see him kicking butt. I wasn't too impressed by Fuko's scenes, though, aside from her using her power of wind. I'm still enjoying this show quite a bit and look forward to more.

The picture has specs of dirt on it in some places and it can be distracting at times.

A short 2 second clip from the show is played when moving between the subcategories on the menu, which looks a little akward.
