Elfen Lied vol. 3 | |
|
Review The third volume of Elfen Lied reveals a lot the mysteries about the Diclonious and the pasts of several major characters. Continuing right where the cliffhanger from volume two left off, Nana knocks the oblivious Nyu unconscious. During her dreams, we get to see Nyu's past with her living in an orphanage as a child. Because of her horns, she is constantly teased by bullies and eventually loses the trust of the only person she thought cared about her. Nyu finally snaps and kills all the other kids and runs away from the orphanage. Later she meets Kohta and really likes him. While the time they spend together as kids is very short, Nyu says that she has never been so happy. Shortly after, we get to see what Nyu is thinking inside, which is apparently a psychological struggle over her sanity as a Diclonious. She is having a difficult time coping with reality, so she gives herself to the darker side of herself so she won't be hurt anymore. It also goes into how Diclonious virus is spread and the sad story that is Doctor Kurama's past. The story doesn't advance much other than Kohta allowing Nana to live at his house as long as she Doesn't attack Nyu. It also continues to be filled with violence and nudity. This volume does a good job explaining a lot of the much needed backstory and I'm anxious to see how things are going to play out in the final volume. Extras
