DNAngel vol. 4

Review
Dark heads out to steal another item called the Eternal Guide, but Risa and another classmate get word of it and go there to see Dark. When Dark gets there, he finds Krad waiting for him. Krad seals Dark's soul away inside the Eternal Guide and unintentionally seals Risa's soul away, too. Hiwatari regains control of his body again and allows Daisuke to go rescue Risa and consequently Dark as well. The Eternal Guide turns into a girl named Towa, who helps Daisuke go to the future. When they return to the present, Towa stays at Daisuke's house as their maid. She's a fun character with some cute and funny scenes throughout these episodes.

The other girl who is introduced is Mio, who just started attending their school after living in America. She takes an instant liking to Daisuke, and when gym class takes place at the school pool, Mio and Riku get in a fight over who gets to be on Daisuke's team. Riku has been Daisuke's partner in the past, but it's also apparent by her blushing face that that isn't the only reason she wants to partner up with him. Mio drops her necklace that appears to have some magical powers at the bottom of the pool which paralyzes Daisuke underwater when he tries to retrieve it for her. Amusingly, Hiwatari jumps in to save him and gives him CPR right in front of the all the girls, including Risa.

These episodes have a lot of fun with the characters and their relationships. Due to various circumstances, all the girls end up at Daisuke's house for a barbecue and some funny situations arise from it. Some progress is also made with Dark and Risa when he takes her out on a date and they kiss for the first time. However, he dumps her soon afterwards, revealing that he has only ever loved one person - her grandmother, Rika. Things are starting to get good, and the further I get into this show, the more the characters grow on me.

This disc has some of the most enjoyable episodes in the series thus far, partly thanks to the new characters that help bring even more life to the cast. I've enjoyed the episodes on the previous discs, but this one stood out among the others content-wise and at this point I am really absorbed in this show.
