Chrono Crusade vol. 1 | |

Review Set in the 1920's, Chrono Crusade follows Rosette, a nun working for the Magdalene Order. Her partner, Chrono, is a devil. She formed a contract with him and constrains his powers using her pocket watch. If the situation gets tight, however, she will release the seal and allow Chrono to take on his demon form to kick some serious butt. Unfortionately, each time she releases the seal, it shortens her life because she transfers her life force to him. The first two episodes are stand alone, but do a great job introducing the characters and setting up the basics of the plot. Rosette and Chrono are really fun characters. You can see the bond between them as they truly care about eachother. These first episodes both have a devil that needs to be taught a lesson. There is a two episode story arc for the last two episodes on the volume, and it was my favrorite part of this disc. It's really well done. Rosette and Chrono infiltrate a Casino to rescue the Apostle Azmaria from a devil. Azmaria is a young, shy girl and devils are attracted to her because they can use her powers for their own purpose. Chrono takes on his demon form in the fourth episode in an attempt to take down a powerful devil. The way the story and action played out was superb and had me on the edge of my seat. Chrono Crusade has some of the best first few episodes I've seen from an anime and hopefully it can stay this entertaining through the rest of the show. With a lot of extras on the disc and a show this entertaining you can't go wrong. Highly Recommended.
Extras
The Chrono crusade Chronicle gives more information about Chrono Crusade and the setting. Volume 1 can also be purchased with a box to hold the entire series. I like the images on it and it's nice and sturdy. Overall:
