Review
The first time I played the game I thought that it started off a bit slow. A lot of stuff needs to be setup and some of Sora's explanations feel like they drag on. However, the game gains a lot of momentum as it goes and I had a great time playing it. Over the course of the seven days that the game covers, I became completely captivated with the characters' situations and the excellent story.

Going into the game I thought a lot of time would be spent trying to figure out a way to escape. While there is a bit of that, most of the game is spent getting to know the characters. A lot of the game has a relaxed atmosphere with the characters sitting around eating lunch together or playing a game of kick the can. Then there are times where something really interesting happens which kicks up the excitement level and had me on the edge of my seat in anticipation.

Ever 17 has incredible replay value because you can play as two different characters. Takeshi is a college student and Kid is teenager called "Kid" because he has amnesia and can't remember his name. Playing as Takeshi allows you to follow Tsugumi's or Sora's path. When playing as Kid the game focuses on either You or Sara. Each path offers a lot of variety and explores a different aspect of the bigger story. There is actually one more character path you can play - Coco's - but it doesn't open up until you get the good endings for the other four characters. The game has a great cast of characters and I enjoyed getting to know them and their stories.

Depending on which characters' path you are taking, it will take between 9 and 11 hours to get to an ending. I was able to get the good endings on my first try for all of the characters except Tsugumi. It took me a few tries to get Tsugumi's good ending. I think even those who go through the game only once would be satisfied with their experience. Those who decide beat the entire game by going through Coco's scenario will find the game to be massive - it's very detailed and complex. Coco's path brings everything together for an ending that blew me away. I'm not just talking about just the last few parts either - a good majority of Coco's path is really amazing.

The game has attractive character designs, each with an adequate amount of stances. There are over 90 character CG's scattered about. There are also a couple of very short 3D CG scenes used. The background music is pretty good.

Ever 17 is a fantastic game. It has likeable characters, a well-developed story, great replay value, and ends with a bang. This is a must-have game for all visual novel fans.
