Summary According to legend, the person who collects all six pieces of the mysterious "Armor of Mars" will become heir to the timeless, all powerful techniques rumored to be at the base of all the world's martial arts schools, techniques upon which both Master Tung and Wolfgang Krauser's techniques are based. Laocorn Gaudeamus, a descendant of the armor's long-ago original owner, has scoured archaeological sites around the world, thus far managing to recover half of the mystical armor. If he gathers all six pieces, he will have the power of a god! |
Review After playing some games in the Neo Geo Land arcade, Terry finds a girl named Sulia running away from three men who are chasing her. He saves her from them and finds out that she was actually looking for him. Sulia asks Terry if he would help her stop her brother, Laocorn, from obtaining all six pieces of the Armor of Mars. Terry agrees, and Joe, Andy, and Mai decide to go with him.
The pieces of the Armor of Mars are hidden, so no one really knows where they are. However, Sulia's pendant leads to a secret cave with a map that shows what cities five of the pieces are in (it doesn't show the sixth). The group goes looking for information on where the other Mars armor pieces are hidden and during their search they confront Laocorn's companions in battle. It becomes a race to see who can gather the pieces first.
The fights look good and there is quite a bit of action overall. I just wish that some of the fights were a little longer. The animation is good, but it lacks the polish seen in other higher budget films. Its got a good soundtrack, I like a lot of the battle music and the ending theme.
There is some romance between Terry and Sulia, which ties into some events from the OVA. I thought this aspect made the movie more enjoyable and I am quite satisfied with how everything played out. Joe is his usual carefree and cool self. I think he's a really fun character. Him and Mai provide a bit of humor throughout the movie.
You should see the OVA before watching the movie, because the story builds off some of the locations and characters from it. I think it would be cool if Terry and Geese got a fight in. We see a short scene of Geese training for their future fight, but nothing else happens afterwards.
If you enjoyed the OVA you should definitely get the movie. Its got a decent story, good characters and some nice action scenes. Recommended.
