Review Audio
I was really surprised at the quality of music in Gasaraki. It perfectly fits the fight scenes and mood of the show. The opening song is also a great piece of music and its in English too! The dub is well done, even with a large cast of characters most of them perform well.
Visuals
The animation is also good quality. Everything looks smooth and animates well. The fight scenes look especially good, with some great mecha action. As for the character designs, I thought they were average. They don't look bad they just aren't very appealing. There are some odd camera angles that make their faces look funny too.
Story/Entertainment
One thing is for sure; you don't see anime like this everyday. One that devotes itself heavily to politics with a serious tone and very little comedy. This coupled with Gasaraki's slow pace will have some viewers completely bored, but I found a lot to enjoy here.
Gasaraki has a complex political plot mixed with some supernatural elements. The story keeps you guessing and you never know what is going to happen next. While the story is Gasaraki's main focus, there are some awesome and well though out mecha battles.
However, there are a few things that hold Gasaraki back from greatness. The show lacks character development partly due to it's large cast and that it is a plot driven show. Gasaraki also builds up a lot and leaves you expecting some grand finale and...it never comes. There are some aspects of the ending I liked, I just thought there would be something more. Aside from these problems Gasaraki is a really good show.
