Summary Key is a robot. Her only wish is to become human. The only way she can accomplish this is to gain 30,000 friends. |
Review I went into Key not really expecting much, but I was in for a suprise. Key the Metal Idol really blew me away. It's a very dark, mature anime. I really felt for the characters and the story is facinating. Every episode had my eyes glued to screen and the pacing is dead on. Each episode releases little bits and peices to the story as Key tries to become human and the there are some good plot twists.
Once I got to the last episode, the only thing I wanted to see was Key become human. It was what her whole journey had been for, and I was full of anticipation when the final episode rolled around. The way the whole show built up for the final episode was incredible. I just couldn't wait to see what happened.
The animation basically does exactly what it needs too. None of the scenes are animated poorly, yet there is almost nothing amazing here either. The music is excellent with a good assortment of vocal songs.
One thing I thought was really well done was how Key explains practically everything. Episode 14 is the one that reveals the mystery about Key and her past. You aren't left in the dark about anything. Episode 15 then brings everything together for a great final episode.
Key the metal Idol is a masterpiece. I really enjoyed it and I highly recommend it.
